Rheem Solar Hot Water Systems

How Does A Roof Mounted Solar Hot Water Heater Work?
And What Are The Benefits?

These type’s of Solar Hot Water heaters are by far the most popular and well known across Australia. The reason they have become so popular is because of their self-contained, space-saving design. Providing you with maximum space below the roofline, within your home.

There are 2 different types of roof mounted solar how water systems, indirect and direct.

Indirect roof systems are designed for areas which experience frost or snow because with an ‘indirect system’, water does not pass through the collector panels. Instead they use the highly efficient heat transferring properties of a special anti-freeze fluid which is circulated from the collectors though a stainless steel heat exchanger, transferring the heat into the water.

The benefit of a stainless steel is that it acts as a natural barrier to corrosion so they do not require a sacrificial anode, unlike ordinary steel models, therefore they require less maintenance.Direct roof systems are designed for homes in a temperate or tropical location, which is not subject to frost and already has good quality drinking water.

These systems operate on the natural thermosiphon principle, i.e. when water is heated it rises. The direct system passes the water directly through the collectors on your roof and then automatically circulates it back into the storage tank, ready to use in your home.

Rheem roof mounted stainless steel systems keep your water in a hygienic environment ready for your family’s needs.
